This itinerary combines the marine wildlife of the Walker Bay, a tranquil Knysna forest experience and the wonderful game viewing of the Addo National Park.
Using our preferred luxury acommodation providers in the three distinct areas, and arranging the pace in such a way that the driving distance is not excessive per day – exult in the hospitality of Grootbos, the intimacy of Tsala and the wildness of Gorah.
We allow for a mix of cultural, natural and historic activities on the way. Highlights include whale watching at Dyer Island, visiting the Knysna Heads and of course the Big 5 Safari.
Departing from Cape Town, the tour will take us on the whale coast to Grootbos nature reserve. There is lots to see and do on the way, such as the penguins at Stony Point, wine tasting in the Hemel en Aarde Valley and even a Ziplining adventure for the kids.
Localizing in Grootbos, there is the options for many of their in-house activities such as the Fynbos horse ride, the caves tour or the fynbos safari. We are but a stones throw from Gansbaai, home to Great White Shark and whale watching expeditions.
From Grootbos we tour through Swellendam and Mossel Bay, historic towns where exhibits such as the Diaz Museum can be visited. We will stop off in Knysna to visit the Heads, and stops at Sedgefield and Wilderness to enjoy their amazing beaches are possible. Once at Tsala, we relax in the rooftop cabins and dinner will be in-house.
Tsala is a great base from where to explore Plettenberg Bay, Natures Valley and nearby Knysna. Nature walks, animal encounters such as Monkeyland or Birds of Eden, and even bungy jumping adventures are all within easy access.
Our journey to Addo National Park and Gorah Elephant Camp takes us past the iconic Tstitsikamma nature reserve, the world-famous surfing mecca of J-Bay and the historic town of Port Elizabeth. We expect to arrive mid-afternoon, just in time for the first game drive.
The team at Gorah will take you out for morning and evening game drives, but there will also be plenty of down time to relax in the majestic surroundings, sipping a G&T while the elephants come up to the watering hole right in front of the manor house!
After a last morning game drive, time to say goodbye for your short airport transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport.
