Dining with a view – the Lookout Deck in Plettenberg Bay

Look forward to a gentle sea mist brushing past your face and seagulls flying overhead while you dine at this ocean-view restaurant. The Lookout Deck opened over 20 years ago, when owner Chris Stroebel and his father were looking to create a casual and relaxing dining experience in luxurious Plettenberg Bay. Over the years both locals and tourists have become loyal fans, tucking into scrumptious food paired with a spectacular view of the Keurbooms Lagoon.

Enjoy whale watching on their sunny outside deck while you sip on a refreshing cocktail, gaze over the picturesque Formosa mountain range and tuck into a calamari basket. Don’t forget to take your binoculars and your bird book along – you might be lucky enough to spot a Knysna Loerie.

Whether you’re after a quick bite to eat after a long day of sightseeing, or a romantic evening with your loved one, Lookout Deck provides the ideal atmosphere. Feast your appetite on a vast menu ranging from wholesome breakfasts and scrumptious brunches to light meals and fresh seafood. Referred to as one of the Lookout Legends, people come back for their mouth-watering pint-o-prawns which are flash fried and served with garlic mayo. If you aren’t much of a seafood lover not to worry, you can choose from a wide range of other options from sirloin steak to steamy homemade lasagne.

We suggest taking a long walk on the scenic Lookout beach in the afternoon before you watch the sunset from their deck. When it comes to cocktails, firm favourites include the Strawberry Daiquiri and frozen Margarita, or why not try one of the fine local wines from Plettenberg Bay.

After your evening spent relaxing and enjoying South African cuisine, end off your night with a decadent hot chocolate brownie.

If you join us for our Garden Route safari package, we’ll happily take you to this magnificent restaurant upon your request.
